We love the beaches in Pembrokeshire! most of them have at least some areas that are dog friendly even at high season but they can mysteriously vanish at high tide! so you may need to check the tide tables. Whatever sort of beach you like there's something for everyone around here. These are some of our favourites.

Mill and Watwick Bays

Follow the coast path South across the fields and you'll soon come to historic Mill bay. This small rocky inlet has a small sandy area at low tide and here in 1485 Henry Tudor, the future Henry VII and father of Henry VIII landed on his way to raise forces and eventually defeat Richard iI at the battle of Bosworth and found the Tudor dynasty.

If continue further you'll reach sandy and secluded Watwick bay (above). Access is steep and with limited car access this is normally populated by a few walkers and people who come in by boat giving it a very exclusive feel.

Dale

Just 2 miles around the headland lies Dale. The beach here is small and rocky ay high tide, dropping to sand as the water level drops. Dale features the Griffen pub, the Yacht club which is open to all for food and drinks as well as a cafe. There is also the village store for last minute essentials like buckets and spades and maybe a dog treat! 

The beaches of St. Brides Bay

Following the coast north around St Brides bay towards St. David's you'll find a number of different beaches all with their own charms:

• Marloes Beach. This dramatic sandy beach can be reached by a walk down from the National Trust car park and rewards the walk with striking cliffs and boulder strewn sand.
• Little Haven the steep descent here leads to the tiny inlet with a beautiful small village at the bottom with its small sandy beach. There is a car park here but when full there are few other parking options. The Sunday roast at the Castle pub here is exceptional for those with good apetites.
• Broad Haven. Next around is the traditional resort of Broad haven with its 1Km Blue Flag sandy beach. While still not developed by most standards there are shops and restaurants here with watersports and as such it's a popular familly beach.
• Newgale (pictured) is 2 miles of sandy beach great for walking and with the central section covered by lifeguards it is popular with surfers   

The freshwaters

A little further along from Pembroke is Freshwater West and East. Freshwater West (above) is a long expanse of sand backed by dunes where you'll find some parking. It is lightly populated but popular with surfers, kyakers and windsurfers. Furth on from this is Freshwater East a smaller and more family friendly beach with (pay) parking and toilets and an icecream van in the summer.
